يونجه با نام علمي Medicago sativa گياهي است كه مردم از برگ، جوانه و بذر آن به عنوان دارو استفاده مي كنند.

يونجه در مشكلات كليوي، مثانه و پروستات استفاده درماني دارد و به عنواد ادرار آور عمل مي كند. در كلسترول بالا با ممانعت از جذب كلسترول در روده به كاهش كلسترول خون كمك مي كند. يونجه منبع غني از ويتامين C،E،A و K و كلسيم، آهن، پتاسيم و فسفر است.يونجه سبب كاهش قند خون مي شود و در ديابت مي تواند كمك كننده باشد. از ديگر كاربرد هاي درماني يونجه مي توان در درمان بيماري هايي مثل آسم، استئوآرتريت، و ناراحتي معده نام برد.
احتياطات: شواهدي وجود دارد كه يونجه تحريك كننده سيستم ايمني است و در بيماري هاي اتوايميون سبب بدتر شدن علائم مي شود. همچنين چون سرشار از ويتامين kاست با عملكرد وارفارين تداخل ايجاد مي كند و سبب كاهش كارايي وارفارين مي شود.
به دلايل خواص شبه استروژني آن در بارداري و شيردهي نبايد استفاده شود.
مصرف يونجه با داروهاي استروژني با وجود اينكه خودش اثر استروژني دارد(اثر جزئي در مقابل با داروهاي استروژني) با كاهش جذب دارو ها در روده سبب كاهش اثر بخشي اين دارو ها مي شود.
در بيماري هاي مرتبط با هورمون استروژن مثل سرطان سينه، تخمدان و ... بهتر است يونجه(به دليل خاصيت استروژني) استفاده نشود.
